February 3, 2011

With all our excitement today about another great event Security B-Sides, almost missed this beauty….

Data breaches, data on those data breaches, a leading telco and the US secret service: http://www.bcs.org/content/conEvent/5873 what more do you guys need? (Other than to be in London at the time it is on of course!)

What: Behind the Verizon Business 2010 Data Breaches Report

When: 8th Feb 2011, 18:00 – 8th Feb 2011, 21:00
Where: University of Westminster, Cavendish Campus, 115 New Cavendish Street, London, W1W 6UW
Town/City: London
Organiser: West London Branch

Speaker: Matt van der Wel – Verizon Business

Every year, Verizon Business publishes the Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR), which presents a unique view into how victims get breached, as well as how to prevent data breaches.  The data is culled from forensic investigations carried out by Verizon Business and the U.S. Secret Service.

Participants to this session will learn what mistakes victims make that lead to a data breach, what techniques and methods hackers are using,
how to prevent from getting breached, and where the attacks originate from. This session will also contain numerous cases and stories from the
field, told by a forensic IT investigator.

Closing date for bookings is 11:59pm on Sunday 6 February. No more bookings will be taken after this date.
